Your responsibilities

We currently have an exciting job opportunity for a Head of External & Internal Communications who is to play a crucial role in bringing our story to life consistently for internal and external target groups by driving our media positioning and employee engagement. You will report to the Head of Communications & ESG.

Your tasks

  • You will be responsible for the professional management of the global external and internal communications team based in Germany and the US and support individual development.
  • You develop, drive, and implement the global as well as local external communication strategy, track and measure coverage as well as handle external providers and operational press relations for corporate, financial and technology topics, incl. coordinating the financial reporting and its related media topics.
  • You advise the Management Board and proactively positioning the company and the Management Board in the public eye. This also includes the group-wide responsibility for steering and implementing one-voice-policy and crisis communication. You will build up, maintain and nurture strong relationships with top tier media in relevant key markets (Germany, Europe, the US and the Middle East).
  • You are responsible for the strategic management of employee and leadership communication and assume global responsibility for ensuring that messages are communicated by the Management Board and other leaders. This also includes to accompany and steer complex transformation projects with a focus on change communication.
  • You will manage the development of strategies, concepts and communication plans as well as control the implementation of measures and their success measurement/KPI reporting in global external and internal communications. The ability to leveraging AI and other tools for more efficient processes as well as making informed decisions based on data and company strategy and priorities is crucial. You use data insights to identify opportunities and potential challenges, manage team priorities accordingly and ensuring that communication efforts align with broader organizational goals.

Your profile

  • Extensive corporate communications experience within international business environment, with proven track record in change communication and as spokesperson. Experience with crisis and political communication is a must, experience with US media as well as policy bodies and legislative understanding is a plus.
  • Demonstrated success in managing international teams, developing strategies and delivering on KPIs catering to the business goals. Experience in managing employee-centric transformation is a plus.
  • You have a broad understanding of leverage the right tools for data analysis to measure the success of activities, benchmarking against competitors, track coverage, and understand audience behavior. This also involves incorporating new AI-based tools and technologies that enhance the planning process, leveraging data insights to identify opportunities and potential challenges, manage team priorities efficiently and ensuring that communication efforts align with broader organizational goals.
  • You stand out as an inspiring and motivating personality, possess strong communication and stakeholder management skills to effectively drive transformation by collaborating with all functions and regions. You demonstrate strong team player skills and team spirit and bring a truly global mindset to the role which enables you to build bridges with internal and external stakeholders.
  • You have a broad understanding of different business models, technological trends and industrial contexts. A background in the energy and/or chemical sector is a plus.
  • You are a driver of entrepreneurial change, continuous people development and team leadership in constantly changing markets. You possess strong project management skills and experience in managing global projects and teams in matrix organizations.
  • You understand and respect cultural differences and translate these into appropriate measures. You have a professional command of written and spoken English, German is a plus.
